  • Mint and menthol e-liquid flavours most popular across the UK, the same year as the menthol cigarette ban.
  • Tobacco flavoured e-liquid was the second bestseller nationwide.
  • Vanilla closed system vapes were particularly popular in Greater London.

The vape brand blu has analysed sales data for postcodes across the depth and breadth of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to reveal what were the most popular e-liquid flavours of 2020.

According to the vape company’s insights, in 2020 the UK’s favourite e-liquid flavours from the blu range were:

  1. Menthol and mint
  2. Tobacco
  3. Cherry
  4. Fruits (other)
  5. Mixed berry
  6. Blueberry
  7. Strawberry
  8. Savoury/spice
  9. Vanilla
  10. Beverages

Menthol and mint and tobacco flavoured e-liquid both outsold all other flavours combined, indicating vapers love the classic flavours, but are keen to choose alternative products or are looking for a familiar flavour following the May 2020 menthol cigarette ban.

Berry flavours made up most of the remaining bestsellers list, with beverages (such as café latte and caramel café) bringing up the rear.

Tobacco and menthol e-liquid were also the bestselling flavours across each individual nation, showing tastes are rather consistent across the country. However, they do differ slightly based on whether the vape of choice is open or closed system.

The UK’s favourite open system flavours matched the overall bestsellers, with the most being sold in the South East of England.

However, closed system vapers bucked the trend very slightly as tobacco flavour was the most popular e-juice for these devices in 2020. The most popular blu e-liquids for closed systems were:

  1. Tobacco
  2. Menthol and mint
  3. Cherry
  4. Fruits (other)
  5. Mixed berry

Sales data for each of the closed system flavours shows people in the South East purchased the most e-liquid, apart from vanilla where Greater London bought the most.
