blu UK picked up the prestigious ‘Product Launch of the Year’ award for 2014. Woohoo!
We won the prize at the 2014 Industry Retail Awards. In a glitzy ceremony at London’s Park Lane, we fought off competition from e-cig rivals NJOY, Vapestick and Vivid to come first.
So, what do judges look for?
A panel of independent convenience store owners judged the award. So, what do they look for? It’s things like research and development, product innovation, brand building and stand out packaging. So our rechargeable e-cigs, disposables, Pro Kit tank and refills/e-liquids ticked all the boxes.
Other winners on the night included Asda for ‘Multiple Community Retailer of the Year’, Sainsbury’s Local for ‘Convenience Retailer of the Year’ and the Co-operative Food for ‘Chilled Retailer of the Year’.
In our category, sponsored by The Bestway Group, Strongbow Dark Fruit won alcohol launch of the year, Magnum’s Marc de Champagne won the Chilled and Frozen prize, and Cadbury Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations won the chocolate award (surely the best name for any award).
A sweet new logo
We’re proud to now have the Retail Industry Awards logo, which we’ll soon be showing off on our packaging. Consumers recognise it as a mark of excellence.
Carla Hughes, Trade Marketing Manager at blu UK, attended the event at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. She says, “I had the honour of representing blu at this prestigious event, and am extremely proud to be part of such a hard working team that put everything they could into making blu not only a successful launch, but now an award winning one! It’s a real credit to every single one of us that worked so hard as team, and we are truly grateful to all of our retailers for their ongoing support.”
