A different class of clearomiser

A different class of clearomiser

When I was asked to try out blu’s new clearomiser, I was a bit sceptical. After all, in a world where we’re constantly bombarded with updates and upgrades, it’s rare for a new, improved version to live up to its hype.

In any case, what was wrong with the first generation clearomiser? Apart from being a bit fiddly and temperamental, it worked okay 99% of the time.

So I was pleasantly surprised to find that the latest version of the blu™ clearomiser is a different class. In fact, upgrade is an understatement – it’s been totally redesigned. Here’s why I think it’s way better.

First, a longer wick reaches from the top of the clearomiser barrel to the bottom of the tank. That means the mouthpiece now unscrews at the top, making it much easier to refill with e-liquid without the need to turn it upside down. That’s sure to result in less mess and less waste.

Secondly, the window is bigger (and triangle-shaped too – sweet!). So you can clearly see the e-liquid level during refill and at a glance. This is a major improvement. The previous version was far too easy to overfill, which could result in a strange gurgling noise on every vape or it failing to work at all.

Thirdly, the airflow through the new clearomiser – this literally hits you as soon as you start vaping – is much, much better. You get a smoother and stronger vape with far less effort. According to blu, the battery connection has been refined too, which also seems to help it perform more consistently.

In short, this next-generation clearomiser works so well, I’m having to adjust my technique. I’ve found that I hardly need to pull on the mouthpiece to feel like I’m getting a bigger ‘hit’.

My only question mark is about longevity. The new blurb recommends replacing the clearomiser every ten refills. Even though I’m not a heavy user, I’ve already been through one fill in three days, so I reckon I’ll need to replace this monthly. Still, £4.99 a pop won’t break the bank and blu has sensibly chosen to charge the same price for version two.

In summary, it’s simpler and more sophisticated, smoother and more satisfying – and all at the same price. What’s not to like?

Well done, blu, on giving me an upgrade that actually delivers. And thanks for restoring my faith in the concept of ‘a new, improved version’.
