There comes a time in life when you have to make a change. You’ve been working in the same job, visiting the same places and eating and drinking the same things for longer than you can remember and it’s time to move on and find the new you!
In our Spring Clean Your Life Survey, 69% of people said that they felt they’d become stuck in a rut, but when it came to the barriers that were stopping them from making changes, 36% replied that they wouldn’t know where to start.
If you feel like it’s time to reinvent yourself and start experiencing life instead of going through the motions, then here are some suggestions for you.
35% of the people who felt stuck in a rut stated the lack of challenges as their main bone of contention, so challenge yourself by doing something that you never thought you could. Meeting the challenge will instil a sense of achievement and boost your confidence. Finish that book you left half way through, learn a new language or register for an online course in something that you never believed you could do.
Overcome a fear
One of the truly positive changes you can make is to overcome a fear. Start by acknowledging your fear and then defining its shape — what triggers the fear, where does it stem from and how does it affect you? Imagine how you want to change and set small, achievable goals. Take control of your fear, by gradually de-sensitising yourself to it; by facing it head on; by sustaining the momentum — don’t rely on fate to sort everything out, and don’t let others tell you that you’ll never conquer your fear; or by thinking of your fear as an opportunity or adventure.
Try out a new style
38% of the people who felt they were stuck in the rut didn’t like the way they looked. Our clothes express who we are, so don’t be afraid to be different. You don’t necessarily have to follow the fashions. Be unashamedly you and wear clothes that you feel good in. You can wear a new colour. Forget about the clothes you currently have in your wardrobe or that you’ve had before and go for something completely different. This is about the new you.
Get a piercing or tattoo
Piercings and tattoos are expressions of individuality and style. There are some really cool jewellery items and tattoo designs out there. You may want to have a mantra for life, Kanji symbols or tribal-style designs tattooed. Just remember they’re permanent, so be sure you want to have the work done. You may prefer facial piercings or body piercings, rather than an ear piercing, and likewise alternative jewellery instead of standard piercing jewellery.
Go see a show you never thought you’d see
51% of the people stuck in the rut stated that they were bored of their routine. It’s time to mix things up a bit! Instead of going to the same restaurant or to the cinema every Friday evening, do something different. See a show you never thought you’d see. You can spend a night at the opera or ballet or an evening at the theatre, enjoy some laidback cabaret entertainment or revel in the mirth at a comedy show. Life is for living after all!
As part of all these changes, why not try a new blu e-cig flavour? Let us play a part in the making of the new you.
