One of the most confusing things about vaping culture is the number of e-cigarette models and types that are available. Sure, you’ve got your regular cig-a-likes, and everyone knows they’re the smaller devices that, as the name suggests, resemble traditional cigarettes. But what about the bigger devices, the ones described as Vape Mods, or Advanced Personal Vaporizers (APVs)?
People just getting started in vaping, and indeed some who have been vaping for a while, can become confused by such terms. They seem unclear and pose more questions than they answer. What makes them a mod? What’s advanced about them? Are these kinds of e-cigarettes appropriate for me and my level of vaping? In this blog, blu explores…
What is a Mod and is it different from Advanced Personal Vaporizer?
These two words essentially describe the same thing: a bigger, bulkier, more complicated e-cigarette. This kind of e-cigarette takes its cue from a regular pen vape, but is enhanced (or modified, hence the ‘Mod’ name) to include certain advanced features.
These advancements can take many forms. Perhaps the battery is bigger and will last longer Perhaps the mechanism used to heat the e-liquid is more powerful. Perhaps the tank has a higher capacity, allowing it to contain more e-liquid. Whatever the enhancements are, you’re unlikely to find them in regular cig-a-likes or pen vapes; only in advanced or modified models.
Why do people use Vape Mods and Advanced Personal Vaporizers?
It’s all about personal preference. Some vapers find that the performance of cig-a-like, or regular pen vape, devices doesn’t suit the kind of experience they want. Vape Mods offer enhanced performance for these advanced vapers and allow them to experiment.
Should I use a Vape Mod?
It depends on how long you’ve been vaping and what kind of experience you want. If you’ve been vaping for a long time and want to try something new, an Advanced Personal Vaporizer can offer you the options you’re looking for. However, if you’re new to vaping, or are still feeling your way, Advanced Personal Vaporizers can confuse and make it more difficult for you to understand the community.
What’s more, they can pose a potential risk if you’re unsure of what you’re doing. The enhancements in Vape Mods are designed to create an enhanced taste and deliver a bigger hit. If you’re not accustomed to such an experience, you could find it difficult to take. So if you’re unsure of whether you should consider an Advanced Personal Vaporizer, you should stick to a cig-a-like or regular pen vape.
Advanced Personal Vaporizers are given the title for a reason: they’re more complex than a standard e-cigarette. For that reason, you should only start using Advanced Personal Vaporizers if you understand what they are and what they offer. If you’re new to vaping, or don’t feel like you have the necessary understanding, keep using your cig-a-like or pen vape.
