California Raises Taxes On E-Vapor ProductsCategories: Industry News
Recently California proposed an increase in the excise tax on e-vapor products. The details are as follows:
- Effective as of April 1, 2017 the California tax on tobacco products, is at a rate of 27.3%.
- On July 1, 2017, the tax rate on tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes and other nicotine delivery devices sold in combination with nicotine, will increase at a rate equivalent to the increase on cigarettes.
- The online tax would apply to vaping products containing nicotine. Other vaping products that do not contain nicotine, such as e-cigarettes, batteries, and chargers, are subject to tax only when sold in combination with products containing nicotine for a single price.
This new excise tax hike will only affect residents of California.
